OSUN STATE BOARD FOR TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION,

The Osun State Board for Technical and Vocational Education was created through an edict in 1999. The edict became law in 2009. The Board was established towards the evolution and management of Technical and Vocational Education at Post Primary School Level, Training of Craftsman, Artisan and preparation of Students for higher learning at tertiary institutions.

There are Nine (9) State owned Government Technical Colleges in Osun State. They are situated in the following towns: Osogbo, Ile-Ife, Iwo, Ara, Gbongan, Inisa, Ijebu-Ijesa, Otan-Ayegbaju and Osu. The under listed subjects and trades are offered in these Government Technical Colleges:

Vision

To establish Osun State as a Skill Training Hub (STH) for the nation, serving as a model for wealth creation and rapid development.

To position Osun State as a pacesetter for national economic growth and individual prosperity through innovative, accessible, and high-quality technical and vocational education that fosters wealth creation and rapid development.

Mission

To cultivate individuals who can apply scientific knowledge to improve and solve environmental challenges, enhancing convenience for humanity.

To provide training that imparts essential skills leading to the development of craftsmen, technicians and other skilled personnel who are enterprising and economically self-reliant.

To foster a skilled workforce equipped with competencies aligned with industry needs, thereby driving sustainable development and enhancing the livelihoods of Individuals.

Objectives

i. Manage and control the technical and vocational institutions in Osun State.

ii. Recruit, appoint, promote, train and discipline all teaching and non- teaching staff in all Government Technical and Vocational Education Institutions in the State.

iii. Ensure the correct implementation of curricular and co-curricular activities in the Technical Colleges.

iv. Provide and maintain all infrastructural facilities and equipment.

v. Give training and impact the necessary skills leading to the production of craftsmen, technicians and other skilled personnel who would be enterprising and self-reliant.

vi. Train adequate manpower in applied science, technical, vocational and commercial/business education.

vii. Provide people who can apply scientific knowledge to the improvement and solution of environmental problems for the use and convenience of man.

viii. Provide the technical and vocational skills necessary for agricultural, industrial and economic development.

ix. Enable our young men and women have intelligent understanding of the increasing complexity of technology.

x. Provide exploratory facilities for professional studies such as engineering and other related courses.

xi. Establish and maintain skill acquisition/women training centers in the state.
